I picked up an HP MCE RC6 remote with receiver and had a common problem with the OK and Back buttons not working. Quite a few threads from people using XBMCUbuntu or Ubuntu with a similar issue.
I am not using LIRC and all the other buttons worked perfectly. Running ir-keytable -t showed that the incorrect keycodes were being sent and that I could remap the codes.
I tried copying the default keymap and edited it and loading it up but kept getting an error reading the keymap file.
Eventually I figured out that there is a typo in the default keymap file, the 1st line must be edited so that it says type RC6 instead of RC6_MCE
This took me quite a while to figure out, obviously there is a bug in 13.10. Hope this helps someone else.
Cheers
