Linux radeon drm hdmi error
#1
Among other problems which have troubled me for the past 2-3 months or so there is one with audio on the radeon which become even more severe with kernels 3.15 & 3.16 as now logs are flooded with "sound hdaudioC0D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD" while previously it has been only "[drm:dce4_afmt_write_speaker_allocation] *ERROR* Couldn't read Speaker Allocation Data Block: 0" which first appeared from what I checked in 3.14

Now is that more of an problem which should be raised with alsa or drm people? Perhaps any known fixes or patches are known out there? (EDID one from http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=174854 thread seems unrelated)

My setup is PC with Asus E-350 connected directly to the TV with HDMI cable (it has been in the past to the 5.1 analog system hence the entry of "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-6ch-dig" in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf)

Gentoo with
XBMC/kodi git version from FernetMenta master branch updated on the regular basis
pulseaudio 5.0 - yes I know its limitations with DTS and such, but its strengths like software mixing allowing many sounds at the time as well plus guide says all is fine with XBMC and pulseaudio http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PulseAudio
xorg 1.16.1 - quite some problems with that upgrade as seems systemd startup script had to be changed to this hack https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/41391#comment125851 otherwise XBMC would not start
libdrm & mesa & xf86-video-ati are git versions updated on the regular basis about every 1-2 weeks

File the bug with the drm people.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
