LIRC not working after motherboard upgrade
#1
I upgraded my motherboard/cpu combo and my remote stopped working.

Its a MCE remote and receiver.

Mode2 shows raw data.
irw shows nothing.

mceusb config is the same one I have been using for a year now so I know its correct. I have searched and found several solutions but nothing has worked so far. None of the logs show any errors or anything besides lirc successfully started.

Possibly you now have it plugged into a usb3 port. Try a USB 2 port.

Would that make a difference like that? it is.

EDIT. USB2.0 same issue. With ether port I get data through the mode2. So I know its working. It seems lirc is not intercepting the commands.

Yes very possibly. See for instance this thread with the same issue http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...id=1685236

Yes, why do you think I mentioned it?

That option might help but I need the usb3.0 for my external drives. I will try it and see what happens. Also I am getting signal in mode2 so I am not sure how its a hardware issue.

Everything I have read relating to USB3 issues involves the receiver not working at all or USB errors. I have neither. No syslog errors or kernel errors at all. and mode2 is reading the correct pulses.

This is my Hardware.conf file. I am using ubuntu server 14.04.1 I have done this same install several times. Only change is the motherboard. went to a asrock q1900-itx.
Code:
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
#Chosen Remote Control
REMOTE="Windows Media Center Remotes (new version Philips et al.)"
REMOTE_MODULES="lirc_dev mceusb"
REMOTE_DRIVER=""
REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/lirc0"
REMOTE_LIRCD_CONF="mceusb/lircd.conf.mceusb"
REMOTE_LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Chosen IR Transmitter
TRANSMITTER="None"
TRANSMITTER_MODULES=""
TRANSMITTER_DRIVER=""
TRANSMITTER_DEVICE=""
TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_CONF=""
TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Enable lircd
START_LIRCD="true"

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
#START_LIRCMD="false"

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES="true"

# Default configuration files for your hardware if any
LIRCMD_CONF=""

#Forcing noninteractive reconfiguration
#If lirc is to be reconfigured by an external application
#that doesn't have a debconf frontend available, the noninteractive
#frontend can be invoked and set to parse REMOTE and TRANSMITTER
#It will then populate all other variables without any user input
#If you would like to configure lirc via standard methods, be sure
#to leave this set to "false"
FORCE_NONINTERACTIVE_RECONFIGURATION="false"
START_LIRCMD=""
