when choosing music to play, i like to sort out my cds by album so that all the thumbnails show. however, similar to the "big list" view, i think that it would be very helpful if xbmc could somehow show both album and artists names...possibly the artist name above the thumbnail and album name below it or something of the like.

you can sort-of do this by adding an item on the left hand side of the screen that shows more information about the currently selected item in the thumbpanel (or whatever).

see the pdm skin for instance. you can use the listitem.artist to get the artist info.

i plan on doing this in my remix skin as well
if you're feeling adventurous you could give adding it yourself a try.
if i'm not mistaken, the file you would be editing is mymusicnav.xml.

you would probably want to add a label control for this purpose (it can be done other ways but not neccessarily a n00b friendly thing).
