Thank you so much for doing this !
It's always a joy to see my old 2007 Mac Mini chugging along using only 33% of its CPU while reading a 1080p movie. And that's one more year away from the dump site for the little guy.
So thanks for this environmentally friendly patch !

Cheers.
It's like recycling hardware that still works for its intended purpose.
Still far more capable for 1080p Kodi than a Android box.

just jigglin' the levers i can see;-)
Quote:Luckily all Macs that can run 10.6.8 , also has the option to run 10.7, but you need to use the platformsupport hack. (google it). So they should work at least to Kodi 15-16 , until Kodi in the future require 10.8.
i'm gonna try 10.9 as soon as i get the efi32efi64 shim, thanx!

Well. It doesnt exist any 64bit gfxdriver for gma950 (except for a really buggy one from 10.6.2), so I would not recommend that. Also you'd need a 64bit driver for the crystalhd card. But osx 10.7 should work fine for future Kodi updates.

Btw, only 64bit OSX official builds are released from now on, if you haven't upgraded your cpu to a core2duo, you'd also need to build from source.

Kodi 15 Alpha2 aka Isengard compiled for testing on a CHD equipped ATV1.

This is a very welcome upgrade by the Kodi team as it fixes a few long standing issues with Kodi running on a Crystalbuntu ATV1.
Its just as quick as my overclocked RPI2 !
Especially its network performance which is still a bottleneck on RPi's.

I'm impressed.

Its amazing what can be done with Ubuntu, 256MB of RAM, a swapfile on a HDD, a low resource footprint TvHeadend server and this latest Isengard from the Kodi devs, all on an 8+ year old piece of silent hardware.

I really love the new adaptive skipping in Isengard.

My only wish now is for the RPi option of boosting the audio volume (for 2.0 audio output) from the centre channel of a 5.1 audio source, be mainstreamed into other Kodi release platforms please.

thanx, hadn't seen that;i was following the older recipe that said kextload_didn't_persist after reboot...i'll give that a try

ah, the instructions didn't mention that kextload is silent w/o -v...
Code:
> sudo kextload -v  /System/Library/Extensions/BroadcomCrystalHD.kext
Requesting load of /System/Library/Extensions/BroadcomCrystalHD.kext.
/System/Library/Extensions/BroadcomCrystalHD.kext loaded successfully (or already loaded).
> sudo kextstat | grep -i crystal
125    0 0x599c4000 0x18000    0x17000    com.broadcom.crystalhd.driver (3.6.0) <5 4 3 1>

and there it is in the video settings...maybe it doesn't persist on reboot after all.
thanx 4 ur help:-) i eagerly await the osx/chd version of 15.0...

Just One More Thing - I'm noticing these 32-bit Kodi CHD builds of mine, run noticeably quicker than the official Kodi distributions on my 2011 i5 iMac.
Anyone know why ?
