X10 Remote controller keystrokes vs. lirc
#1
Hi team,

I have a low price remote controller, a X10 OR22V USB (MCE compatible).
It works out from the box after installing Mint 17.
Nice, but only few keys works and some are mapped illogically.

First I didn't understood it act as a keyboard, so I tried to configure it to work with lirc.
After many attempts I gave up, all info I found are quite old and not straight forward.

Without lirc, I have managed to remap some keys in keyboard.xml file successfully.
But I really want the rest keys to work as well.

When running sudo showkey -k, I get response from all the keys (i.e. 'ok' => 358).
I don't know how to use this numbers. When trying showkey -a or showkey -s,
the problem keys give any response.

a) Can I use these numbers (i.e. 358) in keyboard.xml?

b) Is lirc the right way instead?

c) The 'GO' key starts movie player, can I make it start XBMC instead?

d) How about XBMCbuntu - is that better?

best regards
Bodozer
