Add your source then go to videos/files from the home menu.

Sorry I missed that post. What is an example of a file that you can see in that list but not in xbmc?

colbert report, both the zipped files and extracted mkv

OK, there are no zip files in your file listing.

There is a Colbert Report directory and a Colbert Report mkv file. Perhaps the fact that they are identically named (apart from the extension) is confusing something?

zip/rar, "compressed files" that's what's inside the file folders. and no, because it happens to like every other file in there.

i've basically given up, guess i'll just use vlc :/

OK well for a start I don't *think* zip/rar works with xbmc over http[s] although don't quote me on that. In any event I think you'd have to go into the sub-directory that has the zip/rar file in in order to see the actual media. However I don't use zips/rars.

You do see 3 out of the 4 media files in that directory and a number of the sub-directories, although the logging stuff is obscuring the exact number of sub-directories in the pic. The only one of the media files that you cannot see is the one with an identically named subdirectory. Co-incidence? You think not, I don't know.

So I deleted the folder, and downloaded some new stuff, and it shows 3 things again, but nothing past those three things... wtf.

While I appreciate the theory, I think it's way off base.

Certainly on a local filesystem my theory was blown by a quick test.

and over http.

I am at a loss.

I'm going to install windows and xbmc and see what's up there. I might look at some other proto's like nfs or some such, I don't know much about the security of smb/nfs, but maybe these will work out better. I'm pissed lol.

I had sent you the logs of xbmc awhile ago by the way in PM, dunno if you saw that, it has some information leaks in it, so I'd rather not post it publicly but if you see anything in there, or know a super guru you're welcome to share it with such an individual.
