Solved 60% of channels without EPG - DVB-S2
#1
Hi,

I'v got tvheadend 3.4 installed on a debian arm system.
It's more or less continuously running since 2 weeks now (current uptime 7 days).

I've got EPG for some german channels: BR, ARD, Arte, MDR, NDR, SWR, RBB
(Looks like all ARD channels)
Missing are all ZDF channels, as well as the commercial ones.

Is there any way to have more control over what is going on?

I found the menu Config/EPG/EPG Grabber. I disabled all XMLTV (internal grabber, external interfaces), because I understood this is a paid service.
I enabled all OTA-Grabbers, including "EIT: DVB Grabber"

What's PyEPG?

thanks,

Jan

xmltv shouldn't be a paid-for service, so don't rule that out. Have a look at the grabber scripts.

PyEPG is a Python-based EPG grabber that's currently tied to a UK metadata provider. TBH, I don't even know how well it's been maintained recently, so I'd ignore that.

For pure OTA EPGs (and I forget how tvh 3.4 works), check that there aren't any mux- or service-specific EPG settings. IIRC, there are checkboxes to disable/enable the EPG for each entry.

Ah, it's only tv_grab_eu_epgdata that requires paying.

Solved the problem using this guide:
Find_available_grabbers

I've got a conf file now:
/home/hts/.xmltv/tv_grab_eu_egon.conf

and it works!

Thanks!
