I am running xbmc on my ipad, and I can't enable UPnP in the settings.

The option is there, but clicking on it does nothing. Other options like zeroconf will enable.

Is there anything I need to do to access the feature?

try harder or post debug log (wiki) - there is nothing special about upnp on ios...
