I also tried to follow your guide but in the hardware.conf file where I am supposed to enter REMOTE_DEVICE=, when I go to dev/input/by-id, I don't see my device listed

I've only ever used remotes (Microsoft MediaCenter remote with USB device detector and TurboSight 6280 remote which came with TV card where IR detector plugs into socket on card) which both work with
--device=devinput
lircd device. Both these IRs are recognised by the kernel and work with ir-keytable 'out of the box'. Unfortunately it would appear that your device is not recognised for this method.

I didn't write the guide, btw. It sounds like a problem with lirc, but whether it's a bug or a configuration issue I just don't know.

I tried to change this in my advancedSettings.xml too and it didn't change anything. My AFTV-G1 scrolled really fast and the NSTV is noticeably slower. I have about 200 pages of videos, so faster scrolling would be nice.
I'm using the included game controller to navigate my NSTV.
