musicvisualisation.xml - it'll be in the pal folder, and maybe the pal16x9 folder for widescreen modes.

what do i do if i want to have a part of an image being transparent? is it a specific color, or can xbox read any image format that can save transparency?

png is primarily used for texture graphics. among other things, pngs can have alpha channel transparency.
i am assuming you are NOT trying to make part of the album art itself transparent right? because that's not a very good idea

fyi
you can also use colour defuse to create a transparent effect for an entire image

for example
<colordiffuse>FFFFFF7F</colordiffuse>

would give a control a 50% transparancy
