cache programm to ram?
#1
hi,

im using xbmc to watch movies.

I ordered xbmc to spin down the hdd on movies >=20 minutes, so far its ok.
But when i try to correct the diplay ratio or something (because i want hard-subtitles for example) the movie stucks until the hdd has woken up.

maybe, if the whole programm would be loaded into the ram it may be possible to navigate, or at least change the aspect ratio without waiting for the hdd to wake up again Smile

greetings

yeah that would be a great idea if the Xbox had more RAM. the system has 64 MB TOTAL, which is shared for both system & graphics tasks. XBMC has already been optimized just about as much as can be to work with such a small memory space. and no, you basically can't upgrade your Xbox's memory. it is in fact possible, but it's very pointless with regard to this thread.

hi and thank you for the reply,

i didnt ask to upgrade my xbox' ram Smile
I talked about loading a bit more parts of the xbmc-programm to the ram so it doesnt need to spin up the harddrive just to correct the aspect ratio. (pressing the select-key on the remote)

maybe you find a solution, maybe not Wink
