i am really new to this so it is not perfect, yet.
this was mainly cut and past
any way it was fun to try.

this places a gentle snow fall across all backgrounds in the skin

if you want to give it a try here is what i did:

first i created a IncludesHolidayEffects.xml
http://pastebin.com/hrkH9dGk

then added <include file="IncludesHolidayEffects.xml" /> to the includes.xml like

next add <include>HolidayEffects</include> to the IncludesBackgroundBuilding.xml

i think that was it.

It shows on most of my background, but not over the live DVD case backgrounds on the main menu.... anyway around that would like them there too..!

not sure i am really new to this.
my best guess is to to move it higher in the list of the IncludesBackgroundBuilding.xml
or
remove it from the IncludesBackgroundBuilding.xml
and place it in each xml screen.
not sure if that is clear.

i will try it later today when i get back.
if i can make it work i will post it.

i took a quick look at 4.1.9.6
my best guess would be to add <include>HolidayEffects</include> to the home.xml
try it at line 6 or the last item.

sorry it took so long to get back to you.
i just tried it and it worked for me.

this is what i did:
setup the aeon nox main menu>
movies>
set item background>
Live DVD Cases: Video playlist>
selected my playlist

snow falls across the top of the cases as expected.

i am on nox 5.5.6 helix
