- 19-07-2006 changed: improved the profiles support somewhat. xbmc is now fully multiuser capable. http://www.xbmc.xbox-scene.com/wiki/inde...e=Profiles. thanks to bpairs, jezz_x, chokeman and smokehead for skin work. known issue: webserver sometimes misbehaves on login/logout.
feedback and bug report please.

Another quick note -
In the Wiki documentation you didn't include one more fairly important use for this feature : Quite a few people, like myself, have more than one display hooked up to the XBOX. For example - I have an HD front projector as well as a small LCD which I use when I don't feel like watching a BIG movie (and spare the lamp-life while I am at it). With this new feature it makes it easier to switch between the two different configurations and settings rather easy. My 2c. |

is it wanted that you can´t set a profile-path outside the userdata-folder?
it´d be nice to have a userdata-folder outside of $xbmcsystem$-dir, i.e. e:\xbmcdata. if a user updates xbmc with renaming the old xbmc-folder, he has to copy the userdata-foder back to the new xbmc-dir to restore his settings. with a userdata folder _outside_ of xbmc he has to choose only the location of the settings-folder to restore them. maybe an option to "restore" or "copy" the settings (for default-user) would be nice. thx to _all_ XBMC-Devs

Just a few things i'v noticed:
1) Sometimes when disabling the loginscreen radiobutton in SettingsProfile.xml there comes this annoying selfrepeating notification message "cvs media center bla.." i'm not sure what i've done exactly to trigger it but it happend twice so far, rebooting doesn't fix it, only getting rid of all profiles does and or re-activate logonscreen 2) LoginScreen.xml is not supporting included animations (example: <include>animation</include> --> <animation effect="slide" etc, etc) it's also not very skinner friendly if i change the texturenofocus in the listcontrol i get blackscreens. Smoke.

Along with Smokehead's skin-related requests/reports, it'd be nice to have some built-ins to display specific settings for each profile on the login screen. What I mean is say you have a list of 3 users (A, B, and C) and you are using them as different settings for different TV's (just one possible example). You'd be able to then use the built-ins something like Profile.Res, Profile.Skin, etc. to display some of the specific settings of the currently focused profile. I'm not sure how difficult an implementation like this would be to pull off, but I'd be happy to take a look at it if a dev can give me a basic rundown on what would need to happen and what files I'd be working in. Sorry I haven't had time to look over how the profile code works and haven't even looked at xbmc source in a few months so I'm a little out of the loop. I assume it'd be pretty simple to do a very similar routine as current to find the right profile then just parse through it using a table or something like that. I'm a newbie though so if I can get it working don't expect it to be very pretty code

I would like to report that the start button to bring up the player controls needs to be disabled in the login screen because with the mc360 skin you can bring up the guide blade and jump straight into the master user by passing the locks for accounts people may have set

Spiff allready knows, we talked about it while we were busy with it, i mean like having more info's available and such like "lock indication" and the ones you named, so that the user knows exactly whats going on in one look without the need of logging in on any of the given profiles, it would simply make it all more complete.
