Looking at doing Kodi/Raspberry build, but how would Amazon Prime/downloads work? Would or could I stream Amazon Downloads from my desktop hdd to the Raspberry/Kodi build? Or am I looking at ripping my dvd's to MKV's? ANd just using AmazonPrime(streaming only?)

your question is not very clear.....

There used to be a add-on for Amazon by a coder called Bluecop, and it did work till Amazon started streaming content protected by DRM.

If you can run a HTML5 web browser such as Chrome v37+ ; Safari v8+ etc.. on any capable media device, then that is one option to playback DRM protected content.
The Raspberry Pi cannot run such a browser.

Options:
You can get a Windows PC server program called PlayON to stream all sorts of DRM protected video via UPNP from a PC into Kodi / RPi.

or more preferable, buy a cheap Amazon Fire TV Stick or the bigger daddy - Amazon Fire TV.
