Hi,
This is needed for a friend who isn't too computer savvy. Just needs something basic that has wifi to stream small video files.

Thanks for any help

Buy a used Raspberry Pi (which includes SD card & adapter) and install raspbmc or openelec

You'll need a remote, and it has these weird mini USB/HDMI ports instead of the more standard micro USB/HDMI connectors, but it comes with all the cables you'll need so it shouldn't be an issue.

I got one of these when it was on sale for $30 USD, and I haven't tried anything really high bitrate for videos, but so far it does a pretty decent job for the price.

Yep - very cheap low-end Android TV stick, Raspberry Pi (you can use HDMI CEC to remotely control it via your TV remote, or YATSE from a Smartphone - so no need to buy an IR remote in many cases), or something like an Odroid C1 (though that will be more expensive than £30 budget I suspect) The Pi may also be over budget if you don't have a PSU or SD (non + models)/MicroSD(+ models) card.

The Pi is likely to deliver better picture quality than an Android TV stick, but may be a bit sluggish unless you overclock.
