Problem creating Udev rule when configuring the VRC-1100 for Ubuntu
#1
Hi all,

I'm new to Ubuntu/Linux and have tried to follow this guide: http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Configure_V...for_Ubuntu
to setup my VRC-1100 receiver (I'm actually using a Harmony 650)

I've worked through the 'Udev Rule' section, however after creating the irremote.rules file I do not see the symlinks for irremote0 & irremote1 within /dev/input
Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, is LIRC the only option for this remote? I've previously tried OpenElec and the remote worked perfectly with no input from me, is there anyway the config can be "copied" over from OpenElec, or is this essentially what the linked guide above is doing?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
have same recvier + 650 remote as you.

In OpenElec I could not get to work for a few buttons at all including info, guide and a few others!

MythBuntu and Kodibuntu both worked out of box if I set "info" = "* " in the keymap editor of xbmc/kodi and then in Harmony app on PC set "*" = "Info". Had to change some other buttons in xbmc key map editor but it worked thereafter.

Duuno if it help you! But sure find it strange OpenELec worjked for you....what version was that ?

Thanks for the response, it was the latest version from here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=194362

I've not got as far as configuring the keymaps yet, as from what I understand from the wiki article a udev file needs to be created first, which is where I'm struggling.

Ah, unbinding the Play, Pause, Stop, etc. keys from within Ubuntu preferences fixed the issue with the remote. See here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...t=vrc+1100
Strangely it doesn't mention this in the VRC-1100 Kodi Wiki.

Other than that as you suggested the keys can be configured with key map editor.

Thanks for your help!
