Windows vs Linux
#1
Hello all!
So - I've been experimenting with Kodi for a while now and I'm wondering.... Licensing issues aside, as I already have a windows7 licence, which is the best OS to use for my HTPC.... I'm not really going to use it for anything other than KODI. My HTPC harddisk is empty and I'm just wondering Windows or Linux.... rather than flip a coin, I thought I'd ask here - is there anything one can do that the other can't?

PVR backend is running on a windows machine elsewhere, so that's not an issue.

Thanks,
John

Linux has the big advantage that it is open source and you can patch the os and drivers to your needs. there are issues on both sides but if you choose hw wisely, Linux is the better choice.

I prefer Windows because it lets my machines run other applications natively, in particular, Steam. Smile

As soon as I build my own NAS my Kodi system will be changed from Windows 7 to either Linux or Openelec.
