Release iPlayer plugin v2.7.1 (new thread)
Been a long time I've used this.
Just bought a pi2.
Surprised to see iplayer not in the default Kodi repo...
Even if it's broken, it would be useful to still have it there.
How is that useful? Users don't benefit from the main repository having broken addons.
A) so when it does work again all they have to do is update (Kodi gives notification when an add-on is broken/working again)

B) so that you can download it directly from within kodi instead of download it somewhere else then transfer it.
I'm having trouble getting anything to play at all. Every entry just says 'Retry', and the same happens when I try to search. Just upgraded to Kodi, everything up to date from the built in repo.

The "alternative" iplayer addon was never in the Kodi repository. If it is working it could be added - although someone would need to manage and submit it etc. As mentioned earlier, it is not properly managed currently in terms of centralised source control etc.

The old iPlayer addon is not "temporarily" broken - no point having it in the repository. If it is ever fixed / rewritten it can be resubmitted. For now, consider it dead.
I am looking for an Iplayer addon as this one does not work.

Any help appreciated.

Hi!

I've just found the solution for the subtitles. All you need to do is go -> http://subtitles.toh.info/ and look for the film/series/programm you'are gonna watch and download the subtitle(.str file).

Then browse the subtitle you've downloaded and everything works again!
Suddenly I cannot get any programs to work now with Mikey's BBC iPlayer. Been working well for ages albeit using only the Level3 3200 kbps server. But this week nothing will play. At first could still play programs from last week but all recent programs (EastEnders for 7th and 8th September for instance, will no longer play, although they are listed. What is happening It seems the Level3 server is now down ?? If so anyone have anybody have definite news on this and are there any other working servers like Level3 that could be added to the server option in the BBC iPlayer addon ??. This really sucks big time.

High time the bloody BBC issued Internet Only TV licences for a say a 25% of normal licence fee and gave an encrypted internet streaming service with on demand too for all the millions of Expats who simply want to watch home TV but have to put up with the anal geo blocking. Okay we can (or could) use proxy servers or download illegal content. Sure we all outside of the UK HAVE no option other than to watch UK TV through illegal methods and yet almost everybody is willing to pay for a legal internet based UK TV service which would surely help raise funds for the hard pressed BBC. So why are the BBC so painfully stupid when it would raise them revenue.

Oh and no do not blame geo based copyright as all the BBC (and ITV, CH4 etc) need to do is to tell their suppliers in no uncertain terms that they will either buy with Worldwide distribution (okay encrypted via internet streaming ) to licenced ExPat viewers, or tell the program suppliers to politely F.O. They will soon come around if all the TV companies did the same.

Most ExPats have absolutely NO legal way to watch their favourite UK TV shows, plenty of illegal ways thank goodness. So for now long live the hackers they do a great service to us all which we highly appreciat3e and praise. DEATH TO GEO BLOCKING. We need to start a massive worldwide campaign to fight this anti social crap restrictive system designed to make even more millions for the TV and Movie producers.
Cheers

It's still working great here in Canada Ray. Plays in 720 though.

On the Iplayer plugin
I'm using the Akamai server, Level3 and limelight not working for me.

Hope this helps.
Hi Ed.

Is that with the usual Mikey 1234 BBC iPlayer add-on ?? I assume it must be as know of no others that are working. Not just my own box has stopped working for the BBC iPlayer but other folk here too. The only one that was working was Level3 3200 kbps server the others have not worked since the BBC went anal with their crap anti social and intolerable proxy blocking.

So I was surprised to hear yours is working and indeed with the Akamai 3200 kbps server. All the Akamai and Limelight servers at all speeds have not been working anywhere here for some time and as I said only Level3. So I wonder why that is the case as it is highly unlikely that the servers are blocked here in Thailand where strangely and hypocritically only porn websites are usually blocked. And anyway BBC iPlayer add-on uses its own UK Proxy which of course I have enabled in the add-ons settings.

Thanks for the response matey.
Cheers

That is strange. Like I said only Akamai servers of all speeds are working here using DynamoDNS. That applies to Mikey1234 and the new Iplayer plugin that doesn't have a repo.
Hey guys, I'm in Singapore and I have the exact same problem than ray. Only Level3 servers used to work but now everything is down. Using smartdns doesn't solve the problem.
Hi Guys,

Some shows do still work on Level 3 but not all. Tried the Level 3 streams that don't work from a UK Machine and they still fail so think it's a Level 3 problem, possibly an attempt to start geo blocking. With regards the Akami servers, if you use a smartdns, then the Akami servers do still work.
Americans can legally watch US tv from anywhere with USTVnow, so I don't see why the UK can't do the same.
