joe4444 Wrote:I've done some more testing, and it appears the issue is actually related to an error in the FTP, although I'm not sure if it's XBMC or my client. Apparently when transferring some video files to my xbox they were corrupted. I verified this by running a checksum on the video files. The ones with problems do not match the originals I downloaded. Oo

Sorry! Blush

That sounds ominous... hope the FTP transer bug isn't back...

Could be. I use the latest build of XBMC and since that I have transfer problems with FTP, too! Transfers with Quix freeze etc.

So this isn't new or unique to me? It was causing problems with at least 1/2 of the videos I transferred this week. I have been using the build from 2006-11-05 since late November, but only very recently (a few days ago) did this corrupt video problem occur.

Luckily I hadn't erased any of the originals from my PC, and after transferring them to my XBOX again the problem seems to be gone. I'm going to run a few more tests with recent builds to see if I can duplicate the problem.

Could someone point me to a thread related to the (old) FTP transfer bug?

Hi i know this is my first post but ive ben here forever just never bothered to register because i had no need to post until now because everything i had to say someone else had said but i have discovered a bug with the new mplayer.dll. If you are playing music (mp3) and are in the video section then back out to the home window and then go to videos and then choose a bookmark once you choose a book mark (mine is labeled movies) and quwincidently it is in the same physical position on the screen as my music share in the music tab (they are both in the exact middle of the list) well anyways once you choose a bookmark (mine being movies) the player skips to the next mp3 in playlist (folder) it basicaly executes the next song command when you press A and i can re create it.

here is my xbmc.log i dont know if it will help though doesnt seem to match up what was happening maybe i dont have the right logging setting on

restore the standard mplayer.dll as a test becase this appears to be completely unrelated. until you actually play a video, mplayer isnt even in memory. this looks like samba problems. (smbc_read error 9)

Some rmvb can't play.
error code:
Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item
But if you choice play as mplayer the same rmvb can play correctly.

Another problem, new mplayer.dll can't adjust left and right track.

I assume you mean play using, and then this isn't a mplayer.dll problem as the dll doesn't make any changed to player selection.

what do you mean by that?

Hack_kid:
Your log wasn't a debug log, nor did it play using mplayer, but was using paplayer. has nothing todo with mplayer.dll

Everybody please check results with original mplayer.dll before even considering reporting in this thread.

Hello all and congratulations for an *AWESOME* product! Have been using xbmc for 3 years more and the combo xbox+xbmc must be the best buy I've made in the last 15 years Smile It also amazes that you never stop squeezing more out of the (outdated by today's standards) hardware. THANK YOU (from the bottom of my heart la-la-la Smile ).

Onwards to the subject. Using this modified build (dated January 3rd iirc):
1) AAC sound in Matroska now plays fine. With the "normal" build no sound was detected at all
2) 512x384 Nero Digital clips, using the standard definition AVC profile and encoded with CABAC, 2-pass and AAC 2.0 audio, play without even a hitch! (NOTE: I convert the .mp4 ND files to matroska, test above is in .mkv format)
3) AutoMKV files in 704x3xx and higher resolutions have major stutters at some points. Sound is in AC3 or AAC format. x264 command line to produce these clips:
Code:
"E:\AutoMKV\exe\encoder\x264.exe"  --pass 1 --bitrate 478 --stats "F:\finished\temp\.stats" --ref 0 --no-b-adapt --progress --keyint 250 --bframes 3 --qpmin 10 --qpmax 51 --no-psnr --trellis 1 --ref 3 --filter -2,-1 --direct auto --vbv-maxrate 25000 --me umh --no-ssim --merange 12 --weightb --b-pyramid --analyse  p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8,p4x4 --8x8dct --threads 3  --output NUL "F:\finished\temp\movie.avs"
"E:\AutoMKV\exe\encoder\x264.exe"  --pass 2 --bitrate 478 --stats "F:\finished\temp\.stats" --progress --keyint 250 --bframes 3 --qpmin 10 --qpmax 51 --no-psnr --trellis 1 --ref 3 --filter -2,-1 --direct auto --vbv-maxrate 25000 --me umh --no-ssim --merange 12 --weightb --b-pyramid --analyse  p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8,p4x4 --8x8dct --threads 3  --output "F:\finished\temp\movie.mp4" "F:\finished\temp\movie.avs"
Sharktooth x264 profile used: HQ-Slower.xml

4) Disabling the in-loop deblocking, by tweaking <XBMC>/System/Players/.../mplayer.conf file seemed to improve playback on those SDTV clips (ie watchable playback, with minor skips at time).

Keep up the good work lads Smile
