Different skins, different things
#1
My idea is that skins could come as "packs".

This way they could have their own start-up logo and their own keymaps.

It would make things a lot easier to set up for the way each person likes to use XBMC. Instead of having to copy over a skin, then a logo, then a new keymap, etc etc.

It would also mean that one could jump from one skin to another a lot easier, if the skin was incharge of the logo and keymap.

For example, the current default keymap just doesn't quite fit the needs of the MC360 skin.

I ran a small poll over at XS and some people seem to agree with me.

I disagree with keymaps on a per skin basis. Too much xml to manage.
Having the logo in the skin might be a good idea. Right now xTV displays its own logo after the XBMC splash screen which is kinda cludgy.
The problem I think is that the splash screen is rendered before any of the xml is parsed..

A good solution is for skins to bundle in their own tiny script that will swap the splash screen in and out and place it in skin options.

If swapping the logo in and out would be so easy, why not the same for keymaps? After all, we just need some flag to point to a certain file.

We have to wait a little while when swapping back and forth with a skin, those changes could be part of the "skin pack".

I made the swapping logo script here for skinners to use.
