I changed a movie file name and in the next run Kodi asked to delete the old one that I clicked which "didn't exist". I clicked yes. Then I clicked on "update library" and Kodi didn't entered the file with the updated name. I then clicked "clean library" in the system, still kodi didn't entered the file again. So, if you rename a movie ...you lose it!
Unless there is some method, other than clearing all library data and reinstalling Kodi.

Hi, so renamed the movie from what to what?
What is the content of your Debug_Log after running a library update?
Also a Kodi Log with Debug enabled could help here too.

Just browse to the movie in videos>files then right click and refresh
If I have been of help, please add to my reputation as a way of saying thanks, it's free.

I have a feeling whatever you renamed it to, it did not scrape properly. Simple as that.

Yup - what they said. I've renamed movies, moved them, re-filed them - yes, the old name no longer works and needs to be purged from the library - but yes, you can then simply re-scrape the new 'version'. It will show as a new entry, and you'll lose any watched status or similar, but they're easy to re-insert into the library.
