Switching to the Japanese character set breaks everything (even if the language remains as English). I think that the problems lies in the fact that using Shift-JIS, the backslash sign '\' is replaced by the '¥' sign. This prevents any programs or scripts from working (or even showing up correctly).
Anyway to circumvent this issue?
I want to update the Japanese strings but...
