Kodi Box that also does IPTV
#1
I have read the wiki, but my requirements is, I would like to have a box that supports Kodi and IPTV streaming.

I have installed Kodi on my Fire Tablet, while it works, it is very jittery and will often freeze on me during playback.

I would like a box that is easy to setup, future proof, HDMI output, 4K if possible but not really necessary, and is powerful enough to run Kodi and IPTV.

Youtube is also a must and if possible, a box that runs the PIA VPN app fine, without any issues.

A box that also supports wireless 5Ghz would be nice.

EDIT: We also have Hulu and Netflix, and if possible, a box that can play apps like wwe network, espn3 (web streaming), etc without issues.

Thanks

Did you read the "Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated Jan. 2016)"?

Yes I did, but I am still undecided and thought that more experienced members can give me a better answer.

There is a really nice IPTV Android App floating about somewhere for the WeTek Core if I remember correctly.
I will try and find details on it.....found it:

Thanks, I was looking at the wetek core boxes and really liked them but they are out of stock.

Would you know the difference between the core and the play boxes?

Also, these boxes come with kodi installed, is that right?

How does these addons work with wetek boxes?

I mean, I am all new to this stuff but what's the diff between the two addons?

Thanks

I just bought a AFTV 4K and while it works, I am not impressed with it.

Sometimes video playback is jittery and i am running kodi v16.

Hulu works fine, with no jittery playback, so I know it isnt a internet bandwidth issue.

I am all new to this, so now I am thinking of returning this box and getting a shield TV, unless they are some settings I can try.

I read somewhere to turn auto refresh to match always, and my hardware accelerating settings are turned on, by default.

Is there a wiki or suggestions, what the recommended settings should be, to match the AFTV.

I ran a speedtest from the box and I am getting 88Mb down and 11Mb up.

You also have to take the source into consideration, whatever you IPTV source is.

Yes, I understand that, but then again maybe I need to try a different source and just experimenting.

I don't know what your source is but you may want to try adjusting the video cache by creating the following advancedsettings.xml

For devices with 1GB of Ram:

Code:
<advancedsettings>
  <network>
    <buffermode>1</buffermode>
    <cachemembuffersize>39321600</cachemembuffersize>
    <readbufferfactor>20</readbufferfactor>
  </network>
  <pvr>
    <minvideocachelevel>65</minvideocachelevel>
    <minaudiocachelevel>65</minaudiocachelevel>
    <cacheindvdplayer>true</cacheindvdplayer>
  </pvr>
</advancedsettings>

For devices with 2GB of ram:

Code:
<advancedsettings>
  <network>
    <buffermode>1</buffermode>
    <cachemembuffersize>78643200</cachemembuffersize>
    <readbufferfactor>20</readbufferfactor>
  </network>
  <pvr>
    <minvideocachelevel>65</minvideocachelevel>
    <minaudiocachelevel>65</minaudiocachelevel>
    <cacheindvdplayer>true</cacheindvdplayer>
  </pvr>
</advancedsettings>

For devices with 4+GB of ram:

Code:
<advancedsettings>
  <network>
    <buffermode>1</buffermode>
    <cachemembuffersize>314572800</cachemembuffersize>
    <readbufferfactor>20</readbufferfactor>
  </network>
  <pvr>
    <minvideocachelevel>65</minvideocachelevel>
    <minaudiocachelevel>65</minaudiocachelevel>
    <cacheindvdplayer>true</cacheindvdplayer>
  </pvr>
</advancedsettings>

I believe AFTV comes with 2GB of RAM, so I shall try your settings with the 2GB RAM options.

Do I have to reboot the box, in order for the settings to take effect?

Thanks

Yes, all XML files require a reboot for the changes to take effect.

Ok, here are some kodi screenshots

While, disabling hardware acceleration and modifying the three settings under advance settings, it has made a difference, but every now and then, the video will be choppy.

TV is Vizio M series 4K, connected to Amazon FireTV via HDMI, with CEC enabled on the TV itself.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
