Please, I created nice looking gif icon to use on my home tabs. Works and looks great on Windows, but wont work on Android.

Why not save it as a PNG? GIF is a pretty outdated format and was previously (until 2014) encumbered in patent issues.
PNG is a prefect replacement, I suggest using that instead.

Ah you need an animated GIF. Sadly I don't believe there is animated PNG support yet.
Those are supposed to work in KODI on Android, but there is a bug in the current release apk (the library for GIF support is missing).
