Audio Passthrough or Fixed Settings
#1
I have been experiencing small audio dropouts when playing AC3 files on Kodi. While playing with the settings, I was wondering about the following:

* Will there be any (audible) loss in audio quality if I set the output to fixed 96Khz & high resample quality, compared to Audio Passtrough for DTS/DTS-HD/TrueHD & AC3?
* How many bit (16/24/32?) is the output with the above mentioned setting?

The dropouts seem to disappear with this setting.

Setup:

* HTPC with Asrock Q1900M mainboard
* Hooked up to a Marantz SR6008 receiver through HDMI

"fixed" is for AVRs that need ages to change config. If you don't use "fixed" the output configures closes to the config of the source.

Well, I guess my AVR is indeed one of these "slower" types ;-)
Anyone who can answer my questions regarding soundquality and bit-depth?

What do your ears say? Output depends on the available formats. On your intel hw most likely a 32 bit format is used (Debug Log has it) ... which can ship every common format without quality loss.

But your ears are the important thing here ...
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
