tlrobinson Wrote:Hmm strange. Are you running a recent version of XBMC? Are there any JavaScript errors (Tools -> Error Console in Firefox, Debug menu -> Show JavaScript Console in Safari) or alert popups?

I'm running v2.0.0. Actually, yes loads of errors in the console in Firefox. To give you just a few examples:

Those are just CSS errors because Firefox doesn't support some of the Safari / WebKit features. They shouldn't be a big problem, it just won't look as nice. I'm looking for JavaScript errors.

Quote:I tried the command in Safari and firefox but just got "Error:Unknown command".

Well, there's your problem. Whatever version of XBMC you have doesn't support the required web interface commands.

I've managed to borrow a friend's iphone and have been testing this out. It looks great on the iphone's screen! Navigating thru large libraries has never been more elegant.

Some observations:

Transport controls don't work in landscape mode.

Previous folder button when navigating around isn't working properly. After selecting a track to play and getting taken to the Now Playing screen, the previous button needs two clicks before anything happens and then I'm taken two levels up in my share. Same goes for when navigating through folders in share. Sometimes it needs 3 clicks.

Filename field on Now Playing screen shows smb username & password

In portrait mode long filenames trail off screen.

A volume control would be nice :-)

All in all great work so far!

Yeah most of those are known bugs, just haven't gotten around to fixing them.

Transport controls (along with volume control) work if you're on the home screen, otherwise they're covered by the sub directory pages.

It's basically a custom web interface for XBMC on the iPhone. It's all JavaScript and it uses iUI so it matches the native iPhone interface pretty well. It should also work ok with Safari 3 on Mac OS X and Windows, and possibly other browsers.

http://tlrobinson.net/projects/xbmciphone/

It's got some neat features like album art and automatically switching between file browsing mode and transport controls when you rotate the phone.

Please check it out and let me know if you have any problems, and any other feedback you have.

Thanks,

Tom

Does this work in accessibility mode with the iPhone? Can someone who is blind, be able to navigate XBMC using this? Text to speech accessibility is built into the iPhone.

Ive tried to use the XBMC web remote control on a Windows computer using a text to speech program called JAWS, but it doesnt work. Mouse over anything, it doesnt translate it to speech.

Can you enable the text to speech (accessibility options) mode on the iPhone and try it out?

PS
Yes the blind do watch (listen) movies from time to time. DVD menus are a pain in the ass.

this is what I'm getting every time I try connect the app up to Frodo...
It worked fine with Eden, but for some reason I cant get it to connect up to Frodo, even with all the settings the same, I don't seem to be able to get it to work...
Is it because Frodo's still in the beta phase?
