It would be nice if Kodi could update the library in background automatically every x hour. If possible also delete missing movies.

I don't understand how to add it Sad

Why cant these things be implemented in kodi-settings?

Because they are not without risk, and most people do not use or want them.
There is a simple add-on that you install and configure that adds the functionality.

Check the wiki page on this addon: add-on:watchdog (wiki)

There is also another addon called library auto updater, which allows you to set a frequency for updates. Mine is set to every two hours and trakt.tv runs after each library update

That one avoids the overhead of polling your sources like a watchdog would do. I'm not in a hurry, so I just set it to run once a day Wink
