i just fired up the 4/13 cvs build. g-force rocks! many thanks to the devs for getting it in. i am a real sucker for eye candy so i am loving it.
- resolution
i experimented with resolution settings. 720x480 worked fine, but it certainly wasn't as smooth as the default since it is pushing about 4x as many pixels. it still looked pretty sick though i decided i needed a better framerate.
i have settled on 540x432. it looks much sharper than the default 360x288, and it still runs smooth enough for my taste.
oh, this is on a ntsc/480p set.
- music glitches & a fix
preface: i play my music off a samba share hosted on my unix file server.
when i first started playing with g-force today i noticed that the music would stop for a few secs once in a while. i think i heard the hd spinning up when this happened, so i changed spindown time to 10 mins instead of the default 5, because i suspected that g-force was loading config files and spinning the drive back up. i also turned my network music cache settings up to 1024k, but i am pretty sure it was a hard drive issue.
- g-force controls?
is there a way to switch color maps, patterns etc. while g-force is running? it would be nice if we could map some buttons on the remote to visualization controls--change pattern, change color, freeze/unfreeze settings, etc.
G-Force :)

about controlling viz'es.
i vote for a generic control system, through a osd, which each viz communicates through. related to that would be the ability to change viz on the fly. but, i think this will have to be postponed until after 1.0 Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
