Surround Sound Test built-into XBMC (5.1/6.1/7.1)

It would be great if there was an easy way to test audio through xbmc.

For example:
Settings -> Audio -> Player -> Configure Audio Hardware -> Test speakers

If digital out has been selected and your receiver supports ac3/dts, xbmc could send white noise to the speakers while displaying "Front left", "Center", "Front right", etc., similar to how most new receivers do. I just tested this on my own setup using the receiver, as I suspected the rear speakers were swapped left/right, and finding this on my receiver was time consuming.

I guess it could be accomplished with something as simple as a 5.1 channel divx played in a loop.

I believe it's been already discussed before, and the response was to simply take an AC3 audio track and store it on the xbox. You can find them using google, or also you can use an audio editor and make one depending on the skill level, it's not too hard though. But it is easier to grab one already made. I've seen AC-3 (5.1 audio), Pro-logic 1 and 2 audio tracks, and about 15 THX ones also (I have all the THX ones myself.)

I'd recommend purchasing the Video Essentials Test Disc for audio/video calibration - around $50.
