Green screen instead of video with ATI/AMD graphics
I placed AdvancedSettings.xml in /usr/share/xbmc/userdata (tried both lowercase and mixed case file names)

and the file contents look like this

Code:
th0r@vulcan:/usr/share/xbmc/userdata$ cat advancedsettings.xml
<advancedsettings>
  <glrectanglehack>1</glrectanglehack>
</advancedsettings>
The log is @ http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/35727/

My previous reply disappeared. not sure what happened.

I have placed AdvancedSettings.xml in /usr/share/xbmc/userdata and looks like

th0r@vulcan:/usr/share/xbmc/userdata$ cat advancedsettings.xml
<advancedsettings>
<glrectanglehack>1</glrectanglehack>
</advancedsettings>

I tried with both lowercase and mixedcase filenames.

any progress with this? i am having the green screen issue then the ghosting issue. I have not tried to compile it myself i have only used synaptic to install. is there a way to fix it without having to recompile?

jmannik:
no other progress than i posted above. (ie that you need to edit your advancedsettings.xml file and add <glrectanglehack>1</glrectanglehack> or better <glrectanglehack>yes</glrectanglehack>

th0r:
could you post a debug log?

I had tried the glrectangle 1 setting but i hadnt tried setting it to yes. i will do that next time i get the urge to poke and prod it (later on today when im more awake)

D'OH ! I should have tried this earlier. I renamed the file to all lowercase and used the 'yes' setting

[EMAIL="th0r@vulcan:%7E/.xbmc"]th0r@vulcan:~/.xbmc[/EMAIL]/userdata$ cat advancedsettings.xml
<advancedsettings>
<glrectanglehack>yes</glrectanglehack>
</advancedsettings>

and am now able to watch videos with partial success. I don't see the ghosting anymore but playback is @ twice the speed without sound (But this happens only on some video files). This is definitely a lot more better than where I was earlier

The last hiccup that I face now is when I stop the video player. The display goes gray and all I see is a tiny little white square. The display becomes totally unusable after that forcing me to restart XBMC.

Thank you for the fix. I tried this out

<advancedsettings>
<glrectanglehack>yes</glrectanglehack>
</advancedsettings>

and the videos are now working great. Also this is xbmc on windows.Big Grin
