Problems with files over 4gb using smb mount

Hi,

not sure whats up, but I'm mounting a samba share (suse) on ubuntu (xbmc). I can copy files over 4gb e.g. matroska or dvd iso's to my local disc using the mounts and then play them fine using xbmc, but when I try to play them over the network (via the mount point) the matroska files don't play at all and dvd iso play till they reach the 4 gb point and then stop.

Guess my next step is NFS, but I know that the server works with those files using smb and my old xbox xbmc

anyone out there having the same problem ?

ok, using NFS from the same server same share works with XBMC...

Which leaves the questions why would 4gig+ files not work on XBMC(linux) but work fine using XBMC (xbox) ??

just out of curiosity have you tried using xbmc samba client instad of mounting them in linux ?

You might have hit some sort of 32-bit limit (2^32=4GB).
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.

ok, guess all the noise for almost nothing...

the build-in smb stuff works...

still have no glue why mounting a share using ubuntu via smb would bring up a 4gb problem, but thats what happens...

guess this thread can be closed...
