Bug?: Crash on initial load
#1
I have been poking around trying to figure out what the deal is for a while now. I can't find anything on the forums or the FAQ's and the crash reports and log files are next to useless it seems.

I had this working about three weeks ago with no problem. in the mean while I installed Visual Hub and SoundSource. I also installed the latest patches for OSX and the update for the Perian plug in. I don't know if these could interfere at all with OSXBMC but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

The problem is such. I open XBMC and it crashes after the "T3CH" screen appears. Here are the appropriate log / dump files

xbmc.log

It looks like it's crashing trying to open the audio device to play a skin sound. That's really, really strange, and it's not obvious why XBMC code is at fault. You might want to play around with your Sound/Audio MIDI settings. Also check your system logs to see if anything strange is showing up.

Actually it looks like it's crashing elsewhere, specifically at __semwait_signal. Thread 1's backtrace:
Code:
Thread 1 Crashed:
0   libSystem.B.dylib             0x90660bce __semwait_signal + 10
1   libSystem.B.dylib             0x9068b8cd pthread_cond_wait$UNIX2003 + 73
2   libGLProgrammability.dylib     0x9557d432 glvmDoWork + 162
3   libSystem.B.dylib              0x9068ac55 _pthread_start + 321
4   libSystem.B.dylib              0x9068ab12 thread_start + 34

Thread 0 I think just happened to be opening the audio device at the same time.

That's a red herring, d4rk. The crash reports often say that the wrong thread has crashed Smile

ah ok Smile That makes sense. I'm not sure what exactly thread 1 is supposed to be doing anyway, it doesn't even look like an XBMC thread.

I'll try and back track what I did to cause it to explode. I was trying to get Quicktime to passthrough AC3 Audio and there was some hackery that came from it. Also I remember installing Visual Hub and an update to Perian (codec pack for Audio Visual goodies)

If anything I'm also planning on doing a clean wipe of this machine soon unless trouble shooting this could help you guys out in any way.

I saw another crash on CLog, so I'm going to look into it for this next version. Thanks for the report!
