I don't think it's supported because OS X/Linux versions of XBMC use FFMPEG instead of mplayer and ffmpeg doesn't load plugins the native dll files... Real is proprietary format so support for the codec is limited in the opensource world.

but heard of good news recently as apparently RMVB has been successfully reversed engineered? don't hold me to this but it is just something I have heard over the net.
If true, and more work done to it, FFMpeg might be able to do it in future.

At least there is someone doing it. So fingers crossed.
As xbmc / other variants are fully open sourced and done on a voluntarily basis by these guys, well personally I do wish for RMVB support / RM support and basically some form of win32 dll loading but it's up to them.

The day rmvb is supported will be my new mac mini day Smile At the moment, no rmvb/realmedia/win32 dll loading like mplayer is the only thing for me Sad

Ohh well, progress should be along the way so be patient I guess.

There's always the trustworthy xbox1 to play RMVB files Smile
