Nope, no more x86 builds.  Just use ARM.

Why? Kodi on x86 had a bright future for anyone that wanted the best ffmpeg yadif 1:-1 deinterlaced live TV and use android apps...

What would it take to reinstate x86 builds?

It's not that bright when Intel has dropped "low-end" Atom SoCs.

Even before this happened, there were very few x86 Android devices and most are defunct.  So, there's no reason for our devs to continue to divert what little time & resources they have into a dying/dead Android architecture.

I was using android-x86 with kodi for android x86. On a regular inter dual cor 3.3 ghx. Worked great. Super sw deinterlacing and android apps.... And a super snappy ui experience. At the moment there is no alternative for this, that's why I would really like to see android x86 builds in the future....

Are there any build scripts available for people to build their own x86 apk?

x86 apk packages are handy for running on the Android SDK/Emulator.

Running the emulator in "arm mode"  is far to slow, hence the value of the x86 package.

I agree. We need an 18.8 x86 build for people still running the Google Nexus Player and similar devices.
