First, i would say that is certainly not the most elegant way to launch Xbmc but it works and could be useful for some people.
Second, I'm not a developer just a mac fan and now xbmc fan.
So a guy called garionPMX has written in python a plugin SDK/framework for frontrow 2 : Frontpython.
Thanks to him!!!!!
I took frontpython and modified it to "create" a small plugin for frontrow 2 which launch Xbmc from Frontrow.
You have a new item in main frontrow menu called Frontxbmc.
When you click on it, you launch xbmc.
When you exit xbmc, you come back to frontrow.
1) the link to the .zip file : here
2) unzip the file
3) in the frontxbmc folder, you will find the source code and the plugin :FrontXbmc.frappliance
4) copy this file to /System/Library/CoreServices/Front\ Row.app/Contents/PlugIns/
5) kill frontrow if it's opened and launch it again
Now you've got the best of frontrow and xbmc :
xbmc for videos (xbmc is the best video player for osx, thanks guys)
frontrow and its integration in osx (itunes and iphoto)
Ah yes, anoter guy called jon christopher has written another plugin (based on frontpython) to launch eyetv from frontrow : pyetv
Hope that it could be useful for some of you
