Help a Noob - Disable Fullscreen Video?

I've built a custom Home.xml window that I'm trying to keep onscreen constantly. When XBMC receives a PlayMedia command, or steps to a new video in a playlist, it switches into fullscreen mode. Is there any way to disable this? If not through the program, in the source code?
