Bug RPI3 - HifiBerry Pro - loud "click" noise when starting new videostream/movie

Hello,
I'm using the latest Kodi, 17. I have a Raspberry Pi 3 with a HifiBerry Pro hat. Selecting the hifiberry as sound output is no problem and the sound is perfect.
BUT, when I start a movie (from an add-on or from a file, doesn't matter), you hear a loud clicking sound. The sound is quite loud and you even hear it when I mute the sound before starting the file or stream.

I don't know if this is a problem of Kodi or HifiBerry...

Any ideas on what I could try to eliminate it?

If you choose the analogue (headphone) or hdmi audio output do you still get the click?

No, only if I use the HifiBerry DAC.

Suppose you don't use kodi but play audio from raspbian (e.g. with aplay or mplayer) do you get the same click?

No, it seems not. One time I had a click, but not as loud as in Kodi, and less harsh.
