The politics/ethics/morality or whatever is a separate issue, and discussion is moot until such an API is available, and someone with the skill and inclination bothers to do something with it.

Well if we hooked into webkit and Quicktime we could get away with playing iTMS purchases, Flash and Silverlight files nativly (in OS X at least). I think... Wink

Dunno about Silverlight, but that JW Media Player for flash can be stripped down interface-wise and pass through controls through Javascript. XBMC can then just run the swf through Flash Player as if it were a web browser in fullscreen mode. Would that work?
