I'm running 8.04 Hardy, and just built xbmc for the first time for my box. I find though that playback of video is not quite as good as when I just use mplayer. The two differences are that the A/V sync is slightly off in xbmc, and the scaling to full-screen is not as clear as mplayer either.

Does xbmc use mplayer for all this? I thought I read that xbmc might be using openGL for the scaling at the very least...
