You can downgrade by installing the version you want same as upgrading, all of the settings and addons will remain.

 Thanks, think I was getting confused because that didnt appear to work. But it was all related to the CD/R disk that I'd left in my optical drive yesterday. The fact wasn't that the downgrade didn't work properly. Its just that those versions also failed now as the bug must've been in those dailies too but hadn't showed up because the optical drive of the PC had been empty until yesterday evening!!
