Hello 

when i play 4K movies on kodi on my apple tv the colors look very dull nearly unwatchable - but if the movie are in 1080 the colors are much more vivid 
i have tried with lots of different movie with the same results,  is this a bug ? or are there any settings that could change that ? i am running kodi version 17.6-6

Experiencing the same exact issue on Apple 4K TV, washed out colors on all 4K videos.

Thanks for pointing this out guys, I had not really noticed but as soon as I read it here I tried the same movie(s) 4k HDR versions on the Plex app where the difference was like day and night. I'm by no means an expert on any of this but it appears to be related to a discussion I saw with regards the wrong colour gamut being selected for HDR files (rec709 instead of something else).
