Kodi 17.6 keeps crashing on startup on new windows 10 build
#1
Hi there

Please help?!

Have downloaded Kodi 17.6 on new Windows 10 build and it keeps crashing just after logging in. It either just freezes or restarts the computer.
I've tried fresh install, updating all drivers but neither helped.

Thanks for your time.

Nick

There is possibly also a crash-log file in the same temp folder.
Check and provide it as well, please.

Hi @nickspen

Nothing stands out, but that is probably due to Debug Mode not being enabled.

Can you try again, but follow these instructions... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=323719

Thanks for your reply.

I have followed the Dummies Guide but am still just getting the same 'kodi' log as sent.
I set up a new advancedsettings.xml and copy and pasted the settings as per the guide but am still just getting that same log.

When crashing it just freezes and I need to reboot the computer.

Thanks

pal , can you check that your kodi is not beeing blocked by Windows Defender because that makes Kodi miserable for use. i almost had the same problem of freezing and not responding Kodi after i gave Kodi access in Windows defender and firewall it is working fine maybe this helps u a bit.

No, that hasn't helped. Disabled Windows Defender, but Kodi still freezes within 10 sec of startup.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

can u check your firewall maybe that is blocking kodi for public or private network ?? do you have any other antivirus ??

I think that may have done it!!!

Have turned off Firewall private networks and Guest or public networks and have been in Kodi for a good 60 seconds without crashing, the longest ever!
I will give it a proper run tomorrow.

Is it safe having both firewalls turned off? I have AVG free version running which doesn't seem to be affecting Kodi.

Thanks so much dheerajpareek10, I've been trying to sort this for the past couple of weeks!

Will confirm all good tomorrow.

Cheers
