XBMC for Windows, rev 13239
#16
sho Wrote:Funny how a seemingly platform independant feature works for me on the xbox but has not in either of these pre-packaged Windows builds.
Feature in question is "Flatten TV Show if only a single season" in Video Library Settings, no go under Windows.
Good question because this is not really something which should be handled differently in windows.
Anyhow I first have to collect a decent video and audio library to test those things out Wink

I don't think so since neither Charly nor me changed something in this direction. As I pointed out in another thread the problem is that we don't have the test equipment to test things out.
At the moment I also don't have the deep knowledge about this stuff so I would need some trial and error in order to solve it.
Best would be finding some Win32 devs who could support us here.

So, I don't know if this is a no-no or not, (Jim or some other mod can rap my knuckles if it is) but...

Is it entirely out of line for the folks interested in the various ports happening (Linux, Win, OSX) to have a paypal or similar account which would go to provide appropriate HW for the various devs to test with..? A Windows paypal fund for WinHW; a OSX fund for OSX hw; a Linux fund for Linux HW...

I know I'd be good for _at least_ $20 (a pittance for all the use I've had out of XBMP/XBMC), and it wouldn't take much to get decent test HW in the hands of the right folks...

Thoughts..?

Hi I'm having huge problems with XBMC always crashing when trying to play large files that's packed in rar archives. When I unpacked everything is ok. So whats the problem? These archives containds a single file that is 1,36GB in size, and I just know that I have played packed DVD's before so why is it having problems with these files? The problems occure on P2P ripps like
21 R5 LINE XVID - STG
Street Kings DVDSCR or WP XVID - STG
The Forbidden Kingdom R5 XVID - STG

Another question is, why is SMB charing so hard to convert? and also to start games and programs out of XBMC, I mean it just have to lunch somethins and then stay in the background.

I"m sure the devs would appreciate you submitting a patch that would do these things.

When trying to play HD .mkv files XBMC freezes after about 5 seconds does anybody have a fix for this. When looking in the log I see memory leaks. Here is part of the log when trying to play a .mkv and saying there has been memory leaks:

The memory leaks of the libraries a "normal" and just let us keeping track of 3rd party libs. From the logfile it looks like that XBMC is stopping on request

Exactly.
Even though I don't understand the problem with SMB. The smbclient is for linux and it's quite some work to "port" it to win32 therefore we're still using the old one. Can't tell why browsing for shares works on XBOX but doesn't on win32. But this is the only problem I know.
Yesterday I build up a new media PC with Ubuntu and on XBOX I just put in the IP of this server and was able to browse the shares and to play video from it.

Hey All,

anybody have a workaround for shares on Vista Home Premium. The install went fine, I have weather, rss etc.. in dhcp interface ?0? under network settings. I tried static with the same setting as the VISTA pc. No go still get a SMB error when trying to browse for shares. The static works fine on XPsp2 machine.

Are you guys mapping your drives?

Regards,

Dave
