I have had this problem with Kodi 17.6 and 18 beta2, with either PIN or full text, on both Windows 7 and CoreElec.
I assign the password under Interface > Master Lock, and check File Manager, Settings (All) and Add-on Manager. Checking Programs & Scripts Windows or not makes no difference here.
The result is that when I go to my custom home screen, I keep getting the password prompt on all main menu items. Pressing Esc button makes it go away; it correctly works with protected settings.
Any solution?
Edit: Upon a hunch I turned off password for the Add-on Manager setting. No more annoying password prompts for no-password items !
Also is there a way to lock System Info?
