Hi - getting the 'PVR Addon not compatible' error when starting Kodi 18-Beta-3 Leia, Ubuntu 18.04, kodi mythtv addon release (apt-get) v.5.8.7-1 from official Kodi repo.

No issue here. I guess the cause is the package you installed or you could have an old version installed somewhere in your system.
Please provide the fragment of the log about this issue.

5.8.7-1 installed from Kodi ppa. No log, just says "Incompatible addon - addon will be disabled" at top of screen when Kodi starts and the addon is disabled.

This is because kodi-pvr-mythtv-5.8.7-1 was copied from the nightly PPA into the unstable PPA without rebuilding it against beta 3.
