v18 Vertical shift dropped?

Android is only maintained by exactly one person and half a million whiners try to push their shiny feature, not caring about the general platform as a whole at all.

Implement a method that checks if the functionality is available, if yes, expose it -> then it would work on every box, that is able to do it.

Vertical Shift is a feature that had been around since the days Kodi was called xbmc..

We're not whining because we want to push a feature, we are whining here because a (for us) critical feature got removed from the UI with no way to access is except for a sketchy workaround that could be gone any moment.

All we ask for here is a way to configure it being shown.

I'll happily donate some money to bring back a way (any way) to enable the vertical shift option while using media codec.

I really don't mean to come across rude or unappreciative and I understand the reasoning behind this. But I have seen a few pull requests over the years getting rejected for this exact request and I don't have enough knowledge about Kodi's internal workings to do better with limited spare time at hand.

So, if someone is willing to tackle this I'm sure me and probably a few others would be happy to donate.

I checked and have seen. Try: https://jenkins.kodi.tv/job/BuildMulti-Choice/290/ when it's finished. It's Leia based.

The last few posts prove what I said earlier. I'm not smart enough to understand why this feature is gone.

Am I correct in assuming that it will never come back because KODI needs to be compatible with other ANDROID boxes? That's what I'm getting from the last few posts.

Can someone point me in the direction of a KODI fork that is focused specifically on getting the most out of the SHIELD? I understand that SPMC is dead.

Just above your post is a test version, test it. This has nothing to do with smartness.

I tried the .apk above.. it brought the shift feature back!!!
Unfortunately, it introduced stuttering and audio dropouts on 4K HDR material.

Thanks so much. It's good to see that it's at least begin being worked on!

I just reenabled it. I need a log for the 4K stuttering - as nothing video related at all was changed.

18.5 will have it enabled again.

Testbuilds: https://jenkins.kodi.tv/job/Android-ARM6...64-v8a.apk and https://jenkins.kodi.tv/job/Android-ARM/...bi-v7a.apk directly from the PR

Full-builds will result in the usual mirror url:
