Media Companion - Manage Icons, Posters, FanArt, .NFO's & more for Movies & TV Shows
sicon99 Wrote:I have version 2.291 and every time i try to scrape a movie i get this error..............

I'm now working on Media Companion gen2, you can find the main thread at http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=53640

The latest version is 3.039, you can find it here:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=363...stcount=77
or
http://billyad2000.darkbb.com/announcements-f1/

Versions 3.xxx of Media Companion have been completely rewritten. The movie handling is now complete and most of the functionality has been added, i'm working on a batch wizard right now.

I think you will find the new program a big improvement in terms of appearance and stability.

Gen2 does not support TV Shows yet, I am expecting to be starting on this before the week is out.

A couple notes with 3.031

Some of my movies are listed twice...

When you click on change movie I keep getting a page error (expected identifier, string or number)
Its happened with a few different ones.. works in IE/firefox though.. so not sure..
for posters every movie that i scanned had the Paris je t'amie poster and i manually had to hit the poster button for each new movie and select it.. they did not autoscrape.

Other than that its looking good so far!

Why would you post (in this thread no less) about an old version? He linked to 3.039 in the post right above yours. You should try that one before asking about any problems. They have probably been fixed in the newer version.

Not trying to be a dick but mentioning problems with an old version doesn't do much good. You need to see if the problem still exists in the newest version first. If it does, then he can use that info to track for a bug.

This thread is excellent, and really helped me alot. FOr that I thank you all!

I do have one small problem that hopefully someone can help with?

I am using AEON skin and while my movie folder is in perfect shape, my tv show section thumbnails are all screwed up ( see below )

How can I fix this?? Any info would be great!

I am trying out version 3.198 of Media Companion, and already loving it. One minor thing is that I get a "Rating: scraper error" for every movie I have tried. Everything else looks great. Any hints?

use posters instead of banners when scraping.

IS anyone else having an issue where it takes hours to scrape one movie?

Do I understand correctly Media Companion creates its own database, not connecting to the XBMC database (like XBMC Web manager)? I thought this program would be nice to remove some double entries in the database (I see some movies 4 times in XBMC).

Why don't you just clean your database?

I already have folder.jpg, fanart.jpg and movie.nfo files in folders organized as one movie per folder and am trying to use Media Companion for the first time. It seems to import fanart.jpg and movie.nfo information just fine but seems to think that the posters represented by folder.jpg do not exist.

Have I missed a setting somewhere?

Thanks.

I believe that you need to have a movie.tbn file in there as well or the program won't pick it up. I think the folder.jpg file is only used for file view, the library view primarily uses movie.tbn so Media Companion uses that primarily as well. Not sure if there is an easy way for you to duplicate and rename your folder.jpg's to movie.tbn's. Anyhow my folders all include

folder.jpg
movie.tbn (same thing as folder.jpg just renamed)
fanart.jpg
movie.nfo

Media Companion works great with these files, good luck.

Does this programm also add automatically extra thumbs for the info view?

Well I want to say "Thank You!" for this. I played with it for a bit and finally have my entire TV Show library complete (all 300+ episodes and counting). I always had a rough time with the tv shows for some reason. This was very useful!! Smile
