300 dpi is more than enough IMO. Vectors is good, and for t-shirts, you want as few colours as possible.

The place I got the t-shirts done up just needed the artwork printed out onto plain photocopy paper and the screens for printing are made via a photocopy process - most interesting, and they came out really nice.

The online places can take most image types - no idea what the quality of the resulting merchandise is. If you find one that makes good quality stuff for a reasonable price, give us a bell.

Cheers,
Jonathan

I've done some stuff with http://www.spreadshirt.net (http://www.spreadshirt.com for US page). Quality is very good and they have fair pricing. They support JPG/PNG/... raster format for white stuff (shirts, mugs, etc) and vector formats like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw (for everything but necessary for colored materials). You can add a few dollars/euros to the base price to get some revenue to support development. On http://www.spreadshirt.net they also have stickers. I made one once for a metal case and it looks great. Could be used for Case Stickers or even larger case mod or car stickers. A competition for some nice designs could get in some nice designs for it.

I like the more easier to wear / less-geeky kindof approach of the printing!

But personally I like the stylised "xbmc" logo more, atleast the "Who's your DJ?" would look better with that one IMHO.

http://xbmc.org/media/logos/ alternate 5 I the one I refer to.

Definitely alternate logo 4 or 5. We've completely stopped using the other one, except for the daft logo in various random places on our ugly website (in case you're up to doing some more design work, hint, hint).

Jonathan

thanks I didn't know that, it would be more difficult to creatively work with a logo thats just a black text !!

But I will take that into consideration.

So at the end what's the official logo ??

Alternative 5 is generally what we use. (eg see the XBMC startup screen, or PM3.HD)

Love that "Who's your DJ?" design! Cool

Know that to secure the names I have now registered http://xbmc.spreadshirt.com (for USA and Canada) and http://xbmc.spreadshirt.net (for Europe) for future use.

As I understand, if we use vector designs graphics then we can have the logotype text in any (one single) color:
Quote:Note:
* Save vector designs as .eps
* Save pixel designs as .jpg, .gif, .png, or .bmp
* Size of pixel designs: max. 3 MB and min. 200 dpi (buttons: 400 dpi)
* Pixel designs may not exceed 3000 x 3000 pixels

FAQs:
http://www.spreadshirt.com//us/US/Servic...egoryId/46
http://www.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Service...egoryId/45
http://www.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Service...icleId/320
http://www.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Service...ticleId/36
http://www.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Service...ticleId/34
http://www.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Service...ticleId/33

Note! Know that we are in the processes of phasing out / scrapping the old oval shaped XBMC logo, and only keeping the XBMC logotype text font type Wink

So we are only keeping this "XBMC" logotype text:
Image

Well, and the "XBMC MEDIA CENTER" part as well (which can be moved under as well if you like)
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xbmc/XB...e_v1.0.zip

...I also like the "POWERED BY XBMC" and "XBMC MEDIA CENTER" slogans (text only) on top of each other Nod

XBMC
MEDIA CENTER

and

POWERED BY
XBMC

...or a one liner slogans like for example "My entertainment is powered by XBMC MEDIA CENTER"

Big Grin

[EDIT]: PPS! Another idea would be to also allow skinners to submit their design artwork to us and we could 'host' their own T-Shirt designs on our official XBMC Merchandise Store as well, that way you can get all your XBMC apparel in one store, good idea?

I really like the second and third one! (don't like the first and last...)

MORE! MORE! MORE!

"Let XBMC entertain you"
"Good. Better. XBMC."
"I'm a media junky" (XBMC logotype underneath in small print)
(There must be more creative people...)

Thanks, as you may see from other posts is all about choices nobody like the same things.

I made them and my favorites are the first three, the Evolution theme i haven't quite get it right I have it in my mind but visually is still not there yet, but maybe you get the idea behind.

Evolution is about....well evolution in terms of how you manage, organize, listen and view your media before and after there was XBMC, hence the VHS tape, the cassette tape and the dvd disc.

All cool slogans! Cool ...I also like variations of them like "I'm a XBMC addict!" or "I'm a XBMC junky!" or "I'm a XBMC addict!", or "Videoholic!", "Movieholic", "Fanatic", "Fanboy" with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print

"XBMC, media evolved!"
"XBMC, HTPC evolution"
or
"HTPC Evolution!" (with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print)

"XBMC, free your media!"
"XBMC, free never tasted as good as now!"

"XBMC, escapism heaven!"
"Escapism is my religion!" (with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print)

or why not the full text from wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escapism
Quote:Escapism

Escapism is mental diversion by means of entertainment or recreation, as an "escape" from the perceived unpleasant aspects of daily stress. It can also be used as a term to define the actions people take to try to help relieve feelings of depression or general sadness.
or parts

Again with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print.

Or skin specific like:
"Aeon, eye candy overload!" (again with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print)
"Aeon, eye candy gallore!" (again with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print)
"Aeon, feast your eyes!" (again with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print)
