Dropped Frames when using New 173.14.09 Nvidia Drivers
#1
This is just a warning, I'm not convinced anyone else will have this problem.

I run Ubuntu 8.04 with the latest kernel (2.6.24-19 as of this post). I just manually updated to the latest Nvidia drivers (173.14.09 as of this post) and noticed something interesting:

After installing the new Nvidia drivers, I loaded the Killa Sampla and noticed that if I have the OSD up (osd that shows how many frames are dropped, bitrate, etc) the clip will drop frames. This shouldn't happen with an Intel E8400 chip.

Sure enough (and I did this 3 times to verify), if I roll back to the Nvidia 169.12 drivers I will not drop any frames with the Killa Sampla. As soon as I upgrade to the new drivers, frames dropped.

This could be considered overly picky, but I thought perhaps someone might be annoyed in the future after they upgrade their Nvidia drivers. I'll be sticking with the trusty 169.12 drivers Smile

Hmm, i'm running a e8400 and dropping frames in KillaSample. Think it has to do with my Videochip or Soundchip.. have no clue.. CPU runs @ like 80% but still drops frames and i get audiostutters, no videostutters...

I tried the killer_sample last night(with a somewhat similar setup), but I don´t get any framedrops(more than the standard 1 on init). Same as before I upgraded to 2.6.24-19 and 173.14.09. I installed the nvidia driver through envy.
